Open Call ~ Precious Postcards

Welcome to our first ever Open Call! 

If, like me, you covet postcards of artworks you love but would never be able to afford, you know how valuable they are. Precious Postcards is about celebrating that accessibility to owning an artwork image but with original works on paper. People often think they can only afford to buy prints and, in turn, artists think that they need to make prints to be accessible. This collection will offer the opportunity for people to buy an original piece of your work for a price as affordable as a reproduction.

Each postcard sized artwork will be available to buy for under £40, so I'm envisgaing studies and musings that capture your unique artist’s essence, rather than extensively worked pieces.

A quarter of the proceeds will go to FoodCycle, a brilliant charity offering delicious weekly meals and conversation to people all over the UK.

Artwork guidelines

• Original work on paper or card in any medium
• Original hand-pressed prints in small editions welcome 
• Any subject matter (ideally something with all year round appeal)
• Postcard size: A6 (approx 10 x 15cm)
• Retail guide price: £25 - £40 max

Entry details

• FREE to enter
• Email up to 5 images as attachments to hello@artandpeople.co
• Label each jpeg with title / medium / retail price
• Call is open now until Friday 25 November
• Selected works will need to be posted to Bristol on Monday 28 November
• 1st Class Postage paid for by the artist
• 1st Class Postage return of unsold pieces paid for by Art & People

Exhibition info

• Unit 8 Studios Christmas Fayre, Bristol
• 3 - 4 December
• Artworks will be exclusively for sale with Art & People for the duration of December
• Selected and shortlisted works will be posted for sale on instagram

Sales info

• Artists will receive 50% of their artwork sales
• FoodCycle will receive 25% 
• Art & People will retain 25% 
• Artists will be paid within 2 weeks of a sale
