Artist Development Day Course

Art & People is calling Falmouth artists to a one-day professional development course, helping you to take your next steps with confidence. We will cover two of the most requested topics for artists - Pricing Your Artwork & Presenting your Work to Galleries. You can book a place for either session - or both! - depending on the advice you need.

Session 1: PRICING YOUR ARTWORK

10am - 12.30pm

Do you find it hard to be objective when it comes to pricing your own work? Do you find there is not enough room for sales commission? Do you wonder about pricing different bodies of work? Art & People is on hand to help. Founder and curator, Claudia Kennaugh, is offering an interactive workshop on how to price your artwork. She will walk you through the fundamentals and then invite each artist to present their work for personalised guidance. Artists will be invited to bring 2-3 pieces of their work to be curated in the space and used as reference. It’s a chance to compare notes with your fellow artists and check in with a curator so you can  feel more confident to establish or reassess your prices.

Session 2: PRESENTING YOUR WORK TO GALLERIES

 1.30pm -4pm

Presenting your work to galleries can be daunting. Who should I approach? What should I say? How many images should I include and in what format? Art & People can shine a light on the process from the gallery’s perspective. During this interactive workshop, you’ll learn about gallery models, how to get noticed and receive a 4-step guide on presenting your work. Then you’ll engage in role play to practice making conversations and connections in real life contexts. Artists will be invited to bring 2-3 pieces of their work for reference and there will be time for questions and feedback throughout. It’s open to artists of all stages, whether you’re ready to present now or in the near future, join us to get prepared for those partnerships.

Tickets: £45 per session / £80 for both
